Uyirile Kalanthathu is a tamil film starring Suriya, Raghuvaran and Jyothika it was their second film together as a pair. Surya plays the role of a medical college student and Jyotika is his girlfriend. Surya's father's role is played by his father in real life, Sivakumar. Raghuvaran plays his elder brother. Surya is the youngest son of the family and this gives much heartburn to elder brother Raghuvaran. Their rivalry begins from childhood and can be illustrated by the scene where the elder brother pinches his baby brother just to see him cry. The jealousy grows into adulthood. His whole aim in life is to see that Surya's life is beset with problems, thanks to him. When he discovers the love between Surya and Jyotika he passes on the word to Jyotika's elder brother who is a known rowdy around the area. Raghuvaran even pushes Surya over the cliff edge. Synopsis:
Two music directors Bharathi (Vijayakumar) and Kannan (Nassar) who do music together, get separated for frivolous reasons. Their wards Krishna (Surya) and Janaki (Jyotika) fall in love each other, without knowing this. But when they get to know of this, they decide to get married only with both of their parents consent. How they accomplish this, forms rest of the story.

Periyanna starring Vijaykanth, Meena & Suriya who killed the bad guys who killed his family and has been sent to jail, during his time in jail a well respected collector celebrated his daughter's birthday in the jail, who was attracted by the singing talents of Surya convinced her father to grant a special permission to learn music from him. During this time they fall in love with each other and as opposition grows from both the girl's parents and the police department they eloped. They came to a remote town where they witnessed the murder of a collector in the railway station in a broad daylight and no seems to care about it. Then they saw the man who killed the collector is the chief of the village and tries to oppose him, during this time they learned about his past life and had a good rapport with him and he vows them that he'll get them married. The movie moves towards the climax as whether the village chief is successful in getting those two lovers married or the girl's father successful in separating them using the legal system against them.
